Seven groups (or ‘clusters’) of charities, led by a digital partner, came together to solve a shared challenge over a 10 week programme. (Note: there were originally 12 groups, but this was reduced to seven, as digital agencies were extremely busy responding to the crisis, and the demand was greater than the support the sector could feasibly offer at the time.) Clusters worked in four different cause areas: early years; mental health and wellbeing; sexual abuse and domestic violence; and financial wellbeing. To be eligible, civil society organisations needed to have that cause as one of their primary areas of operation. The programme was supported by Shift and DOT PROJECT, who provided support to two cause areas each. As part of this, the

Beyond site was set up.

Sector Challenge began in January 2021. There were 31 grantees.
