Background:

As the pandemic hit in March 2020 and charities moved rapidly to transfer operations and services online, we responded by creating practical content (e.g. digital challenges facing the charity sector and tips for leading charities through the COVID-19 digital transformation process) and mustering Digital Teams to help charities in need of urgent digital support.

As the situation unfolded further, The National Lottery Community Fund set up an innovative grantmaking model, working alongside expert partners to ensure that almost £45million of National Lottery funding reached those communities most vulnerable to the impact of COVID-19. Catalyst received £4.95million of this, to help voluntary sector organisations across England continue to deliver vital services to people and communities affected by COVID-19.

The resulting fund - Catalyst and The National Lottery Community Fund COVID-19 Digital Response - launched on 19th August 2020; this handbook charts the various stages and programmes involved, and includes a wealth of assets and resources created along the way.
